Hip Hop music consists of different musical influences like Funk, Soul, Rock or Jazz. Many connections have older roots but lie rather in the dark. Some musical roots are rather unknown and remain hidden in the darkness of history. I’ve always noticed that oldschool rap groups like the Furious Five, Cold Crush Bros or the Force MCs harmonized in the style of doo-wop groups. But also solo emcees like Busy B, Spoonie Gee or Love Bug Starsky were heavily influenced by singers of the 50s and expressed this through their live performances. Terms like "one for the trouble, two for the time" or even the word "hip hop" seem to be testimonies from those older times. Consider that rap has been around since the 40s or longer and even certain dance moves of lindy hop seem to be refound in breaking. Even human beatboxing could be seen as a traditional connection to the vocal performances of black doo-wop groups up to legends like Al Jarreau.
